The Nielsen Company today announced the appointment of Justin Garrett to the position of Greater China Head, within its Global Financial Service Practice.
Bruce Paul, Vice President, Consumer Research, The Nielsen Company who leads the practice globally said, “The newly founded Global Financial Services Practice group has experienced tremendous growth in the past few months despite global cuts in spending and the extreme turmoil in the industry. We commit to Greater China region and will continue our investment to make sure we capitalize on the opportunities in a rapidly reconstituting market.”
Mr. Garrett brings to his new role a strong background in financial services research and consumer insight from over 10 years of experience working across Asia Pacific, much of it on the inside of banks and insurance companies. He possesses significant experience across all aspects of financial services marketing, including branding and advertising, customer experience, product development and marketing sizing and segmentation. Most recently, he has been leading the Nielsen Financial Services Team in Hong Kong where he advises and works with major global industry giants in the banking and insurance industries, along with regional and local clients.
Mr. Garrett’s initial focus will see him leverage his category expertise to help banks and insurance companies – both local and foreign - to better understand the fast changing needs of the Chinese financial services consumer and thus transform their businesses and tap the growing wealth of the market.

Further, more foreign banks are seeking to enter and grow their share of the China market and as such Nielsen intends to help our clients by bringing together our expertise from different regions and countries” said Mr Garrett. “In Greater China alone we have close to 30 people in five cities who work only with Financial Services clients, and on top of that over 100 people globally working as experts in financial services research and insights. That’s a large body of expertise and experience our clients can tap into at any time, almost anywhere.”
Mr Garrett will be based in Hong Kong, and work across China and Taiwan.
